CEIP 19 DE ABRIL
Spain
“19 de Abril” School is a Primary State school located in the city of Dos Hermanas which is only 6 kms from Seville, the capital city of Andalusia, in the South of Spain. The school is located downtown and majority students belong to lower middle class. There are nearly 600 students aged 3 to 11 years old and 32 teachers. One of the school’s priority is students’ motivation. We consider joining this European project as a great way to keep students’ and teachers’ motivation grow. Our school enthusiastically opens doors to collaborate on this project. We believe that we can provide all participants with many enriching experiences as well as they can provide us and make a significant contribution to our school life. The school is very interested in joining a European project. We are developing a bilingual project so we are really into learning English and learning about other cultures. Our pupils are young and eager learners, they show great enthusiasm to do projects in English language and make European friends. Our school is bilingual and we use English language to teach many subjects of the curriculum. We are a new born school that feels enthusiastic to undertake the new teaching-learning processes styles’ coming from the activities the project enhances. We are looking forward to getting involved in this project and to make partner schools get interested in the work we carry out at our school. We have experience in bilingual methodology, we teach social and natural sciences both in English and Spanish as well as music and Physical Education. Our pupils also have English and French classes. We attend plays in English and we consider this language a remarkable point in our school's priorities. This project could provide regular contact in English language with partner teachers and students in many cross-curriculum subjects. We are also currently developing an innovative method in Maths classes called ABN which we would like to share with our new partners while they are here and via correspondence. We think all our school activities could be truly helpful and relevant for the project. It would be our pleasure to show the way we live, the way we teach and learn and at the same time we hope to learn and get inspired by our partners' great experience. In our school there is a great sense of cooperation among the staff. Our staff works together and each one of them contributes to the school work with his/hers unique abilities. All the teachers in this school have a big experience in their educational field. All of them have worked in several schools and developed different projects with different kind of students.
